Rochester NY Man Injured in Bicycle Accident involving Motor Vehicle
An elderly bicyclist sustained significant physical injuries after being hit by a motor vehicle while riding his bike on a street in Rochester, New York.
The bicycle accident occurred around 7:45 p.m. in the area of North Street and Clifford Avenue in Rochester, NY. The victim was riding his bike on North Street when a passing motorist reportedly lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the bicyclist. The impact from the collision caused the victim to be thrown from his bicycle and land on the pavement.
The motor vehicle eventually came to a stop when it crashed into a utility pole just off the roadway. The collision with the utility pole caused the surrounding area to lose power for a brief period of time before it was restored.
The victim in the bicycle accident is a 79-year-old resident of Rochester NY. The driver of the car that allegedly struck the bicyclist is a 64-year-old man who also resides in Rochester, New York.
Emergency medical responders treated the victim at the scene of the bike accident before transporting him to Strong Memorial Hospital on Elmwood Avenue in Rochester. Doctors at the Rochester medical facility treated the victim for his accident-related injuries and stabilized him. He was later listed in guarded condition.
Meanwhile, the motorist was also taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Rochester cops investigated that auto accident and later spoke with the driver of the car that allegedly crashed into the bicyclist. The motorist reportedly told police that he lost control of his vehicle and accidentally hit the victim.
